Star Wars Eclipse è stato annunciato ai The Game Awards con un esclusivo trailer il 10 Dicembre scorso, rivelando un titolo che introduce finalmente l’era dell’Alta Repubblica nell’universo videoludico della Saga.
Il gioco è ancora in una primissima fase di sviluppo presso gli studi di Quantic Dream, ma si è ritrovato già ad affrontare le lamentele di alcuni fan, che hanno avviato una vera e propria campagna per boicottare il titolo.
Su Twitter è già di tendenza l’hashtag #BlackOutStarWarsEclipse, lanciato per protestare contro il coinvolgimento di Quantic Dream in un progetto Star Wars. Nel 2018, infatti, tre diverse testate giornalistiche francesi hanno accusato Quantic Dream di promuovere un posto di lavoro tossico e malsano per i dipendenti, con il capo dello studio David Cage e il produttore esecutivo Guillaume de Fondaumière al centro delle accuse.
David Cage e Guillaume de Fondaumiere hanno vinto una causa per diffamazione contro Le Monde mentre un’altra delle testate giornalistiche accusatrici è stata assolta da tutte le accuse. L’obiettivo di #BlackOutStarWarsEclipse – promosso anche da alcuni esponenti del fandom statunitense – è boicottare Star Wars Eclipse fin quando Cage sarà coinvolto nel progetto.

Lucasfilm likes to say ‘Star Wars is for everyone’ but that isn’t the case with David Cage in charge of Quantic Dream. I’m sure there are good people working on the game however we won’t be covering it on the channel and support the #blackoutstarwarseclipse movement.
